Sadly most goldfish probably won t survive more than a few months in a fishbowl while they can easily live for a decade or more in an aquarium.
For those who are budget conscious a danio is one of the best fish for a bowl without filter. Their adaptation is to live in seas oceans swamps and rivers where there are no walls limiting their movements. These can grow really big really fast and love eating vegetables algae and ither carb rich foods with low protein content. Some people recommended a betta fish.
You will need to get a proper fish tank that has enough space for a goldfish or multiple to thrive in. Goldfish are one of the best fish to keep in a bowl but only if there is enough space. Danios are super cheap and easy to take care of. And no betta fish are not the best choice for fishbowls.
They will do quite well in a larger fishbowl even without a heater. It is very small and similar to a guppy but at the same time different in nature.
