A moose has a very large long and bulbous nose and a bell under.
So basically the main difference between the moose and the elk is the fact that the moose are the biggest deer out there they have massive antlers and a very distinguishable nose. Moose prefer solitary lives while elks live in matriarchal herds. Elk is the second largest deer. Another key difference between elk and deer moose and reindeer is that male elk have a loud high pitched bugle which they sound during the morning and evening.
The main difference between elk and moose is that elk has long brow tines distinct main beam and points in its antlers whereas moose has palmated antlers and tines protruded from the edges. On the other hand deer only make occasional bleats. The english term moose refers to the species alces alces whereas what we call an elk is of the species cervus canadensis. There are also differences in diet.
Here are the major differences between a moose and an elk. The legs are paler than the body colour in moose whereas elks have darker legs compared to body colour. These are 2 completely different species. Among the four the moose is the only solitary animal while the elk caribou and reindeer often travel in herds.

Elk are light brown a bull elk can be almost golden with a pale yellow rump. Additionally moose has drooping lips but elk does not. Moose is the biggest and the most popular deer. A mature shiras bull moose weighs 1 200 pounds about twice as much as the average bull elk.
Moose are dark brown and appear almost black. An elk is a large animal with a reddish hue to its hair while the moose is much larger than an adult elk and has a darker brown coat which almost appears black. These two are also both different from reindeer or caribou which is of the species rangifer tarandus. On the other hand the elk are slightly smaller in size but they don t have the same nose as a moose instead they have a little shaggy area around their necks. Elk and moose are two of the biggest types of deer.
