The civilian conservation corps ccc was a voluntary public work relief program that operated from 1933 to 1942 in the united states for unemployed unmarried men ages 18 25 and eventually expanded to ages 17 28. Civilian conservation corps 1933 42 one of the earliest new deal programs established to relieve unemployment during the great depression by providing national conservation work primarily for young unmarried men. This included the civilian conservation corps ccc a program designed to tackle the problem of unemployed young men aged between 18 and 25 years old. Projects included planting trees building flood barriers and fighting forest fires.
The ccc had the added benefit of doing things that were helpful in forests and such but that was not the main. The main purpose of the ccc was to get young men back to work during the depression.
