To make your own carpet cleaning solution combine liquid laundry detergent all purpose cleaner oxygen bleach fabric softener and hot water in a bucket. Rags that have patterns or have been dyed may transfer the color to your carpet compounding the problem. For a mild non toxic cleaner that will leave your carpets smelling fresh mix white vinegar water salt and an essential oil like lemon lavender or pine. Cleaning your carpet with baking soda is simple.
Paper towels that do not have patterns may also be an adequate solution. It is an inexpensive solution that is environmentally friendly and will tackle stains and odors in your carpet. Be sure to first blot fresh stains dry with a clean white cloth. Don t scrub blot.
Manually clean the carpet with baking soda. So usually a small amount of water and a drop of vinegar or club soda will get out a stain.
