Eleven patients had had systemic reactions and two large local reactions. The blue and green metallic color is enough to identify them besides their long hind legs. The area affected by the sweat bee sting may begin to swell soon after the sting happens. Sweat bees are generally harmless but they can sting you if disturbed.

One of the prominent features of the sweat bees is that they all have a yellow face though their bodies may be green brown black metallic or red in color. Once the stinger pierces the skin it continues to pump venom until you pull it out so remove it as quickly as you can. There might also be some gooey residue or even remains of the bee still attached to it though the latter is unlikely. Take note that if you have been stung by a honeybee you must remove the stinger as quickly as you can.
